Sato Earns First IndyCar Pole

Takuma Sato on Friday won the pole for Sunday’s Iowa Corn 250 IZOD IndyCar Race at Iowa Speedway.
It was the Japanese driver’s first IndyCar pole.
Sato posted a two-lap average speed of 180.375 mph on the .875-mile oval, which is located in Newton, Iowa.

NASCAR Issues JGR Penalties

NASCAR issued penalties to Joe Gibbs Racing on Tuesday for use of unapproved parts at Michigan International Speedway last weekend.
The penalties included fines and probation to crew chiefs and car chiefs for all three JGR teams, but no reductions of owner or driver points.
