Jimmie Johnson was unhurt but his Grand-American Series car was badly wrecked during an accident Thursday in practice for the Rolex 24 at Daytona International Speedway.
The four-time and defending Sprint Cup champion was driving the No. 99 Daytona Prototype for GAINSCO/Bob Stallings Racing.
Stallings said the incident twisted the chassis, with Jimmie Johnson bruised but OK.
Vision Racing, the team owned by Indy Racing League founder Tony George, has suspended operations and is not expected to compete in the upcoming IndyCar Series season.
The team is co-owned by actor Patrick Dempsey.
