It appears that Johnny Sauter has become the first non-Sprint Cup driver to earn a berth in a NASCAR playoff.
Sauter won Friday night’s Camping World Truck Series race at Daytona International Speedway and in doing so secured a spot in that series’ first-ever Chase, a seven-race playoff modeled after the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup.
