Kansas City, Kan. – Kansas Speedway has received permission from parent company International Speedway Corp. to undertake a “massive” revamping of it’s 10-year-old racing facility.
The project will include a reconfiguring of its 1.5-mile tri-oval, a re-excavating and resurfacing of the track and the construction of an infield road-racing course.
“Essentially,” Kansas Speedway [...]

As a race fan, I’m happy about Wednesday’s announcement that the Sprint Cup weekend at Indianapolis Motor Speedway will become a quadruple-header in 2012. As a Race Fan, I’m saddened by the announcement.
The announcement, of course, was that the Nationwide Series race which has tradtionally been held at quaint, intimate [...]

IndyCar Back To Fontana, But Will Bernard Be Back To IndyCar?

The INDYCAR Series has announced that it will return to Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, Calif. in 2012.
But unless this year’s season-ending race is a Nielsen Ratings success, the man who negotiated the open-wheel series’ return to Auto Club may not be around to see the race as Randy Bernard, the chief executive officer of INDYCAR, [...]

Jack Roush is a results guy. He’s not in NASCAR for the money or the glamour. He’s certainly not in it to make friends.
His business decisions are built around improving results on the track and when a Roush Fenway Racing decision is not resulting in improvement – or even if [...]

Pedley: The 2001 400 Was Fix Free

Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s first victory at Daytona International Speedway was unbelievable. Seriously. Literally. The circumstances of that victory were so bizarre that some in the garages, and many in the media and grandstands, thought the race was fixed.
They thought the fact that Earnhardt won the race on his first trip [...]

Saturday night on the Fourth of July weekend. A good time to sit down for some racing with your best friend. Talk a little, enjoy the thrills of what’s going on at the track. Probably watch some fireworks.
If this is your plan, you will be joined by those driving in [...]

Pedley: The Fourth Gets Off To Crackling Start

By Jim Pedley | Managing Editor

The July Fourth weekend of racing got off to an early and interesting start down in Daytona Beach on Thursday.
Because of the holiday, cars took to the track early, though not often because of rain (one practice for Cup cars).
Also, driver interviews kicked off early. And lively and goofy they [...]

Could NASCAR Soon Do the Twists In Chase?

Could the Chase hit the road? Sounds like the idea was gathering support at Infineon Raceway over the weekend.
Right now, of course, the Sprint Cup playoffs are conducted exclusively on ovals. A variety of ovals, but ovals.
But with Cup drivers getting more and more comfortable on road courses, they seem [...]

Race Day: The Road Could Be Rough One Today

The busiest guys in racing this coming week? From the sound of it, could be the fab shop guys. They’ll be the ones undoing the damage done at today’s Sprint Cup race at the road course at Infineon Raceway.
Driver after driver in the garages at Infineon talked about the increasing [...]
