Earlier this year my RacinToday.com cohort Jonathan Ingram reminisced about his first visit to Monaco for the Grand Prix. Allow me to wax similarly nostalgic about my first trip to one of my favorite venues:
Talladega. White-knuckle, breath-taking Talladega down in sweet-home Alabama.
The asphalt had barely cooled on the mammoth track – [...]

Nashville – She was once fast and frisky and known throughout the nation for her wild Saturday nights, but now she’s faded, forlorn and almost forgotten.
After this weekend all that’ll be left are the memories.
Historic Fairgrounds Speedway is closing its gates, ending a 51-year-run as one of the most fabled short [...]

Critics of the Chase for the Championship claim that drivers who don’t make the 12-man playoff become ride-around clock-watchers with no incentive in the final 10 races.
Oh really?
How about pride?

Jack Daniel’s has announced that it will end its sponsorship of one of Richard Childress Racing’s Sprint Cup cars at the end of the season. Earlier, Jim Beam likewise said it will discontinue its sponsorship of Robby Gordon’s cars.
A couple of years ago Busch [...]

For awhile I wrote it off as just some sort of weird coincidence.
I don’t any more.
It can’t be mere coincidence that week after week, race after race, three Hendrick Motorsports drivers do so well while a fourth flounders.
It happened again Sunday in California. Jimmie Johnson won the race. One of [...]

I’m sure a lot of NASCAR-haters are grinning and gloating over the arrest of J.C. France on drug charges after a traffic stop in Daytona Beach.
How shameful.
I doubt that there’s a family anywhere that hasn’t been touched by the poison of drugs, and just because someone doesn’t care for NASCAR is [...]

Going into this 6th edition of the Chase for the Championship I thought this 12-car field was the strongest in history, top to bottom.
I thought we’d see tight, tense battles and exciting position-shuffling week after week.
I thought the stage was set for one of the most wide-open, dramatic title fights in [...]
