The 2010 IndyCar Series schedule was released on Friday and it shows the addition of two new venues.

Beginning next year, the series will race at Barber Motorsports Park in Alabama, and also in Brazil, home country of several of the top drivers in the sport.

The race in Brazil, which will be held at a “series designed” course to be named at a later date, will open the season. It will be held on March 14.

The North American portion of the season will be held on the street course in St. Petersburg, Fla.

The season will end at Homestead-Miami Speedway on Oct. 2.

The 17-race schedule includes eight races on oval and nine on street or road courses. The season will open with four straight street courses before moving to Kansas Speedway for the first oval event.

Kansas will mark the first of four straight oval races, the second being the Indianapolis 500.
