Nobuhiro Tajima rolls on at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb as the Japanese driver won the Race to the Clouds for the fourth straight time.

While Tajima took top honors he fell short in his bid to break the 10-minute barrier in the event as he finished with a time of 10:15.368.

Two-time European world rally champion Marcus Gronholm succumbed to engine trouble and finished second at 11:28.963.

“I always wanted to compete at Pikes Peak,” said Grönholm. “Having been here the last week I have to admit that it is one of the most challenging events I have ever done in my career. The handling of the Fiesta is absolutely fantastic, and the BFGoodrich tires were great. Unfortunately we had a few small problems today. I lost some power during the last few kilometers, but I was determined to finish. The Fiesta has the potential to beat the 10-minute record. If I come back I know what we need to do to be fastest.”

Britian’s Mark Rennison finished with a time of 12:11.56 while Swedish rally champion Andreas Eriksson ran off the track and was unable to finish the race.

In all, 163 drivers in 17 classes raced the 12.42-mile course which ends at the top of 14,110-foot Pikes Peak, which is located just west of Colorado Springs.
