It was a Target Chip Ganassi Racing kind of night at Richmond International Raceway Saturday as drivers from that team placed first and second in the SunTrust Indy Challenge and had very little challenge from anybody else along the way.

Scott Dixon won the race and teammate Dario Franchatti was second.

Franchitti moved into the the IndyCar series points lead with the finish. Dixon, the defending series champion, moved to second, a single point behind Franchitti.

The SunTrust was definitely not a Team Penske kind of event.

Ryan Briscoe, who had led Franchitti by two points at the start of the race, crashed without an assist just 28 laps in. He left Richmond in third place.

His teammate, Helio Castroneves, this year’s Indianapolis 500 winner, crashed on lap 248. That crash, too, was without an assist.

Graham Rahal of Newman/Haas/Lanigan Racing finished third and Hideki Mutoh of Andretti Green Racing was fourth.

Danica Patrick continued her strong season with a fifth-place finish for Andretti Green.

The victory was the third of the season for Dixon as he also won in Milwaukee and Kansas City.
