Defending Camping World Truck Series champion Johnny Benson was seriously injured in a wreck during a Supermodified race in Michigan Saturday night.
Benson wrecked in the first lap and his car caught fire during the race at Berlin Raceway in Marne.
He was transported a hospital where he was reported to be in serious but stable condition.
Benson had been running in the NASCAR truck series this year but sponsorship problems forced his team to park their truck.
Benson is a Michigan native.
