Kevin Harvick passed Kyle Busch for the lead on a late restart and went on to win Friday night’s NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Kenucky Speedway.

The pass, which came with four laps to go, gave Harvick the win in a race that had been dominated by Brad Keselowski.

But Keselowski, who led 138 of 200 laps, was penalized for speeding in the pits on Lap 148.

He made a charge at a comeback but wound up finishing second.

“All in all, it was a very strange night,” said Harvick, who noted that they weren’t racing tonight three weeks ago. “In the beginning our car wasn’t that bad, we needed some adjustments, had some things happen on some pit stops, so we pitted and put four tires on and everything kinda of fell our way. We were able to get a little bit of a tire advantage there at the end and Ernie (Cope, crew chief) made a really good adjustment to the race car that allowed us to really take off and run the best we had all night.”

Keselowski started the from the pole and led the first 43 laps.

“We had a great day going and I got us behind there with a pit road speeding penalty,” Keselowski said. “I just made a little mistake, but the Discount Tire team did a great job. They gave me a really fast car and just didn’t quite capitalize on it there at the end, but I thought Kevin at the end was just as fast, if not a touch faster, so we had a really good, and like you said, a dominant daytime car but the race obviously finished under night and we were all probably pretty equal then.”

The out come was determined after a caution on Lap 192 for an incident involving Trevor Bayne and Chase Elliott bunched the field back together for a five-lap shootout.

On the restart, Harvick powered using the low-line to pass Busch for the lead.

“We didn’t have the car to beat so we shouldn’t be upset with a third,” Busch said, “but there at the end we had the opportunity to win the race and through the middle part of the race I passed the 5 (Harvick) car and just didn’t have enough on the final restarts unfortunately. Just not enough there to hold Kevin off. He just flat drove right by me on the restart.”
