Dover's record isn't too great.
Nashville shuttered, Gateway, (St. Louis) shuttered, Memphis, shuttered.

Dover itself, just limping along.

Most tracks that are big enough to host NASCAR traveling shows, are too big to support local weekly shows. Indy, & Sports Cars, don't draw enough to justify the fees, & expenses involved.

With two Cup events a year, & other shows, ARCA for instance, plus the odd concert, etc. A track can survive, but it can't do it on Truck, & Nationwide shows.

My sincere hope is that Andy can keep the Rock going, but he's got his work cut out for him.

When I was in the Nashville area for some time prior to & after the Speedway was built, I only heard one comment that made sense. "The big two don't own it" made sense then, still does. Look at any tracks "granted" a cup date, or "allowed" to move one.

I'd believe Nashville is too big of a market to not have some form of NASCAR or Stock Car Touring Series as I do believe the Superspeedway wasn't meant to be, The Fairgrounds needs serious work after the behind the scenes issues are ironed out longer term and I would want Sprint Cup in Nashville in some shape or form in the future.

IMO, the cost to build this track was so overwhelming that failure was guaranteed. Only a NASCAR Cup date could have saved the track, and NASCAR was not interested. NASCAR wanted more diverse and larger markets to expose its Cup product and therefore never granted Nashville a Cup race.
