Eury Jr. Is Out at JR Motorsports
Another change has been made at Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s JR Motorsports as the team announced Monday that Tony Eury Jr. has departed.
The departure of Eury Jr., who has been serving as crew chief for the No. 7 car of Danica Patrick, comes on the heels of news of 10 days ago that his father has left the team.
“Unfortunately Tony Jr. is no longer with the company,” Earnhardt said in a team press release. “I had hoped he would be here for a long time, but as we’ve discussed the direction of JR Motorsports moving forward, it was clear our differences in ideas were too vast to overcome.”
Eury Sr. is Earnhardt’s uncle and Eury Jr. his cousin. Both Eury’s have been involved in the family racing business for many years.
“I love him like a brother, and you’ll never hear me say a bad thing about him,” Earnhardt said of Eury Jr. in his statement. “I know he’ll have much success in anything he does going forward. As for our No. 7 team, no decision has been made on who will crew chief that team this weekend at Kentucky Speedway. We will discuss our options and make a decision very soon.”No Comment
