Nelson Piquet Jr. overcame a spin on lap 56 to move on and win the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Michigan International Speedway on Saturday.

The victory was Piquet’s first in the series and came in his 42nd start.

Earlier in the season, the son of the former Formula 1 world champion from Brazil, got his first Nationwide Series victory.

Jason White finished second and Dakota Armstrong was third on Saturday.

Piquet had a third-place finish at Pocono two weeks ago. He won the pole for that race and started second behind Joey Coulter on Saturday. Coulter finished seventh.

Piquet led the 200-mile, 100-lap race by 15 seconds with two laps remaining. But the team was unsure whether he had enough fuel to maintain his lead to the finish line. He had plenty. Enough, in fact, to do some post-race burnouts.
