Female drivers ruled the day at the NHRA Northwest Nationals as Courtney Force won her first Funny Car race and Erica Enders won her second Pro Stock race on Sunday.

Force, the daughter of Funny Car legend John Force, beat Matt Hagan in the final round of eliminations to get her victory . She beat her father in the semifinals Sunday.

“Getting that victory and having to take out my dad in the process was a huge accomplishment,” Courtney Force said.

“It took me 10 or 12 years to win an event,” John Force said. “It took Ashley two years, and Courtney did it her first season.”

Enders, who won her first national event at Route 66 Dragway earlier this year, beat Jason Line in the finals in Seattle.

Also winning Sunday was Steve Torrence in Top Fuel.

Neither Antron Brown in Top Fuel, nor Allen Johnson in Pro Stock were able to sweep this year’s Western Swing. Brown lost in the second round to Shawn Langdon while Johnson lost to Enders in the semifinals.
