CONCORD, N.C. – Sinica Motorsports is joining NASCAR’s Sprint Cup Series with Camping World Truck Series and ARCA driver Grant Enfinger, it was announced Friday at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Owned by George Sinica, the No. 93 team will compete in 10 to 15 races in 2012 with Allen Wellman as the crew chief. Based in Monroe, N.C., the team plans to test with Enfinger this year and hopes to compete in at least one event this season. The team has noted on its Facebook page that sponsorship opportunities are available for the November Phoenix race. It has acquired race cars from Richard Childress Racing and possibly will obtain engines from the same organization.

Enfinger, 26, from Fairhope, Ala., made his ARCA debut in 2008. Since then he has competed in 36 races, earned one pole, recorded 13 top-5s and 23 top-10s. He’s also led 236 laps with 122 of those coming this year. Enfinger made his Camping World Truck Series debut in 2010 at Talladega, qualifying 12th and finishing 22nd. That has been his lone start in one of NASCAR’s top three series.

Sinica was born and raised in Argentina. Jason Miles is the team’s vice president and general manager.

Also at CMS Friday, Joe Gibbs Racing and Sunoco announced a partnership that allows drivers from across the United States to test with JGR.

Known as the Sunoco Driven Challenge, drivers in five qualifying grassroots racing series will compete via a points system throughout 2012 to determine the overall winner. That person will receive a test in a JGR NASCAR K&N Pro Series car at the season’s conclusion, a tour of JGR’s Huntersville, N.C., headquarters and a meeting with JGR President J.D. Gibbs.

To be eligible for the Challenge, a driver must compete in one of the following series – PASS North, PASS South, CRA, ASA Midwest Tour or SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour.

  • Chris Fiegler says:

Do you think that the 93 team will make the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Races? I think that they will make about 5 or 6 races next year and DNQ the rest of the 10-12 Races in 2012.
