David Reutimann won the pole on Friday afternoon for Saturday night’s Wonderful Pistachios 400 Sprint Cup race at Richmond International Raceway.

The pole was the first of the season for Reutimann and the fourth of his career. His pole-winning lap came at 127.383 mph in his Michael Waltrip Racing Toyota Camry.

“Good horsepower today,” Reutimann said. “We’ll see where we end up tomorrow.”

Reutimann is a two-time winner in Cup but has not been to Victory Lane since he won at Chicagoland Speedway last year.

His best finish this year was second at Kentucky Motor Speedway.

Second fastest in qualifying was Jamie McMurray of Earnhardt Ganassi Racing. He had a lap at 127.334 mph.

Starting third on Saturday will be points-leader Jimmie Johnson of Hendrick Motorsports.

Mark Martin was fourth in qualifying and Clint Bowyer was fifth.

Rounding out the top 10 were Jeff Burton, Kevin Harvick, Carl Edwards, AJ Allmendinger and Juan Pablo Montoya.
