Newton, Iowa – Jack Roush will field a car for Ricky Stenhouse Jr., David Ragan and Andy Lally at this weekend’s Grand-Am Sports Car Series race at Watkins Glen International.

The news was supposed to be kept under wraps but Stenhouse blurted it out during his post-race press conference at Iowa Speedway on Saturday night.

When Stenhouse revealed the news, Roush, sitting next to his Iowa-winning driver, dropped his head and shook his head.

Supposed to be a secret, the owner of Roush Fenway Racing said softly and rubbing his eyes.

“No,” Stenhouse said.

The three drivers will be in a Mustang GT.

The move is designed to give young drivers Stenhouse and Ragan experience on a road course. Lally, a veteran road racer who is driving a Sprint Cup car this year for TRG Motorsports, which is owned by Kevin Buckler and which uses Fords, will mentor the other two oval drivers.

An official announcement of the news will be made during a teleconference on Wednesday.

This week’s Grand-Am race is a companion event to the Cup series at The Glen.

Stenhouse is leading the Nationwide Series in points and Ragan is a full-time driver in the Cup series.

Roush also said that it looks like Carl Edwards, who last week signed a contract extension with Roush Fenway Racing, will compete in the Nationwide Series next season.
