Reed Sorenson won the Bucyrus 200 Nationwide Series race at the Road America road course in Elkhart Lake, Wis.

It was his first victory since 2007.

Ron Fellows second and Jacques Villeneuve was third.

Elliott Sadler was fourth and Mike Wallace fifth.

Rounding out the top 10 were Andrew Ranger, Michael Annett, Ricky Stenhouse Jr., J.R. Fitzpatrick and Timmy Hill.

The race was decided on a wild final 10 laps.

With seven laps to go, Micheal McDowell eased past Brian Scott for the lead. McDowell appeared to be head for an easy victory but with four laps to go, a wreck brought out a yellow flag.

Next to McDowell on the restart with two laps to go was road specialist Fellows. Behind them were Scott, Papis and Villeneuve.

On the restart, Villeneuve attempted a risky inside move, didn’t make it wound up taking out Papis and Scott in Turn 1. That brought out another yellow.

On the ensuing restart – a green/white/checker – McDowell and Fellows were in P 1 and P2.

Justin Allgaier blew past McDowell for the lead when McDowell over-cooked Turn 5.

Coming out of Turn 6, McDowell again had trouble and wound up stuck in the grass. Several other cars behind him also wrecked and that brought out another yellow.

Allgaier got a great restart and had a nice lead when wrecking again began occurring. The yellow came out, apparently handing Allgaier the victory.

But on the way back to the finish line under yellow, Allgaier rain out of fuel on the back side of the 4.0 mile track.

That put Sorenson in the lead. However, he appeared to slow under yellow and Fellows shot past. Both Sorenson and Fellows thought they were in the lead and when after the finish line, NASCAR had to review tapes to see what happened when Fellows took the lead.

They ruled Sorenson should have been in the lead and, hence, was the winner of the race.

The announcers kept saying the Ron Fellows did not have the car to win, but that he was canny & that might do it. Perhaps Jr. needs to look at getting engines from EGR or RCR…?
