Johnny Sauter was black flagged after he made an illegal move on a green/white/checker restart and that handed victory in the WinStar World Casino 400k Camping World Truck Series race at Texas Motor Speedway Friday night to Ron Hornaday Jr.

The victory was the first of the season for Hornaday. It was his 48th in the series.

Sauter appeared headed to an easy victory as he held a 2.7-second lead over Hornaday with just over five laps to go.

But when Clay Rogers wrecked, the caution came out for a record 10th time at Texas.

Sauter had the lead on the final restart but he dipped down low in front of Hornaday before he got to the start/finish line.

Sauter said that both he and Hornaday spun their tires on the restart and that caused the problem.

Sauter did quickly regain control of the car and moved back up but officials ruled that that damage had been done.

Sauter was the points leader heading into the race – 12 in front of Cole Whtte. But with Whitt crashing out early at Texas, a victory could have given the Wisconsin driver a huge lead.

Instead, he left Fort Worth 20 points up on Whitt.

Parker Kligerman finished second.

David Mayew, driving a Kevin Harvick Inc. truck, finished third.

Brian Ickler was fourth.
