Carl Edwards won the pole for Friday night’s Nationwide Series race at Texas Motor Speedway on Friday afternoon.

Edwards turned a fast lap at 178.938 mph in his Roush Fenway Racing Ford Fusion.

Second fastest was Brad Keselowski, the defending series champion, in a Penske Racing Dodge. His top lap was at 178.743 mph.

Starting third tonight will be Elliott Sadler of Kevin Harvick Inc.

Ricky Stenhouse Jr., Edwards’ teammate, will start fourth and Paul Menard will start fifth.

Rounding out the top 10 in qualifying were Trevor Bayne, Joey Logano, Kyle Busch, Kasey Kahne and Aric Almirola.
