Kyle Busch held off Clint Bowyer on a series of late-race restarts and won the Camping World Truck Series race at Phoenix International Speedway on Friday night.

Bowyer, who beat Busch and won the trucks race last November at PIR, took the lead away from pole-sitter Clay Rogers on the first lap of the race.

Busch, who won eight races in the series last year, took the lead out of the pits during a an early caution and and led the rest of the way.

“I knew once he beat us out of the pits” he would win, Bowyer said. “I knew in practice he was the one we had to beat.”

Ron Hornaday Jr., the 2009 series champion, finished third.

“We had a good truck,” Busch said. “I was scared there in the beginning. I was like, ‘Man, it’s going to come down to like last fall and Clint is going to walk the dog on this one.’ But, Rick (Ren, general manager) and Eric (Phillips, crew chief) made some changes to this thing and really brought it to life. It was just phenomenal.

“It’s great fun to come out here and race with these guys. Congratulations to these guys, Hornaday bringing home a good third-place, I know he’s gowning for a good points. It’s cool to come out here and win in Phoenix. I’m a West Coast boy so this is neat for me.”

Johnny Sauter was fourth, Austin Dillon was fifth and Cole Whitt was sixth.
