Today is the big day for NFL fans. It’s the day of their biggest game. The Super Bowl. Or as some call it, the Daytona 500 of football games.

Several auto racing drivers and other racing types are headed down to Dallas/Fort Worth for the game, which features the Green Bay Packers and the Pittsburgh Steelers. Others will be watching on television.

Many have vested interests in the game. And some have even offered to pick the winner.

Here are some of those picks:

Denny Hamlin, driver of the No. 11 FedEx Toyota Camry, Joe Gibbs Racing – “To be honest with you, I like Green Bay in the game just because everyone likes Pittsburgh.  It’s hard not to pick Pittsburgh because they have been there before.  They’re a veteran team. There are a couple injured guys that are going to be pretty critical to the game.  So, for me, it’s a pick ’em game. I think it’s just going to be who plays the best on that particular day. But, I think Pittsburgh has the better defense and a better running game.”

Jeff Burton, driver of the No. 31 Richard Childress RacingCaterpillar Chevrolet – “Pittsburgh Steelers.”

Mike Ford, crew chief, No. 11 FedEx Toyota Camry, Joe Gibbs Racing – “My heart says Green Bay, but

I think  Pittsburgh is going to win.  My wife and I are actually going to Dallas for the game.  We got two tickets through FedEx from an early race win last season.  We are very excited to go to the game.  We are planning to spend a few extra days in Texas and make a little vacation out of it.”

Pat Warren, president of Kansas Speedway – “Green Bay Packers because when (Warren) was at KU Gilbert Brown played for the Packers and lived vicariously through Brown.”

Kyle Busch, driver of the No. 18 M&M’s Toyota Camry, Joe Gibbs Racing – “It’s depressing that Chicago is out, but Green Bay is in — and Green Bay is really good. They’re looking strong. They’ve been great for the past 10 weeks. They’ve been one of the best teams to watch.  But also, you really can’t bet against Pittsburgh. They’ve been so good the past six or seven years.  They’ve won six championships already – more times than anybody.  It’s hard to bet against them, so I’m going with Pittsburgh.”

Eddie Gossage, president of Texas Motor Speedway – “Green Bay Packers.”

the game and I’m going to go for Green Bay, just because. I don’t know why.  I’d like to see Green Bay win. I’m not a huge football fan, I don’t really know much about it.  I don’t have a good reason.”

Gil Martin, crew chief of the No. 29 Richard Childress Racing Budweiser Chevrolet – “Pittsburgh Steelers.”

Ryan Briscoe, driver of the No. 6 Team Penske Indy car – “Green Bay Packers. Definitely the Green Bay Packer thing comes from my wife and all of her family there. They’re huge Green Bay fans; always have been. So from this I’ve certainly become a big follower, one of their biggest fans. This season we’ve been to four of their games, starting with the one at Lambeau (Field) in December when they beat the Giants.”

Travis Pastrana, driver of the No. 00 Boost Mobile Toyota Camry, Pastrana Waltrip Racing – “I went to the Baltimore-Pittsburgh game a couple weeks ago.  When Baltimore is out – I’m pretty much done.”

Paul Menard, driver of the No. 27 Menards Chevrolet – “Green Bay Packers. Being from Wisconsin, I

am definitely pulling for the Packers. I think it’s going to be a pretty good game this year – a close one and not a blow out. But, I do think the Pack is going to get the win.”

Dan Zacharias, media specialist for Ford Racing – “My mom was born in Kenosha, Wis. , and was a big Packers fan growing up, so that’s my team.”

Slugger Labbe, crew chief of the No. 27 Menards Chevrolet – “Pittsburgh Steelers. Because, I’m a Yankee from Maine!” Martin, a huge Tennessee Titans fan, selected the Steelers in hopes that they bring the title home to both the Titans’ and Steelers’ conference – the AFC.”

Kevin Harvick, driver of the No. 29 Budweiser Chevrolet – “Green Bay Packers. They are on a hot-winning streak and I think they can get the job done.”

Todd Berrier, crew chief of the No. 31 Richard Childress Racing Caterpillar Chevrolet – “Green Bay Packers.”

Bob Jenkins, owner of Front Row Motorsports – “Green Bay in a blowout.”

“Green Bay Packers.”

Shane Wilson, crew chief of the No. 33 Cheerios/Hamburger Helper Chevrolet – “Green Bay Packers.”

Austin Dillon, driver of the No. 3 ARCA Bass Pro Shops Chevrolet – “Green Bay Packers.”

Nick Bromberg, staff writer, RacinToday.com – “Steelers 27, Packers 23. This game solidifies Ben Roethlisberger’s status as a HoF quarterback as he grabs his third Super Bowl title. Off-field transgressions aside, Roethlisberger still isn’t in the same class of quarterback as Tom Brady and Peyton Manning, and with the win it will be hard to keep Roethlisberger out when comparing Manning and Brady. Don’t worry, Aaron Rodgers will get his Super Bowl title, I just don’t think it will be this year.”

Larry Woody, senior writer, RacinToday.com – “I’ll pick the Pack in the Daytona 500 of pro football.”

Jeff Hood, senior writer, RacinToday.com – “Green Bay 24, Pittsburgh 21.”

Mike Harris, senior writer, RacinToday.com – “I’m from Wisconsin. Who else would I pick? Go PACK!!!”

Jim Pedley, managing editor, RacinToday.com – “Steelers win big. (I’m using reverse psychology).”
