Austin Dillon’s remarkable rookie season rolled on Saturday night as he took the lead with 35 laps to go and went on to win the Smith’s Food and Drug Stores 350 Camping World Truck Series race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

The victory was the second of the year for Dillon and his Richard Childress Racing team, which has had a terrible week in the Sprint Cup Series.

Finishing second was Johnny Sauter, who was 5.58 seconds behind at the finish line.

James Buescher was third and Todd Bodine, the series points leader, was fourth. Rounding out the top five was Matt Crafton.

Aric Almirola, Brian Ickler, Justin Lofton, Ricky Carmichael and Ken Schrader rounded out the top 10.

Dillon, who also won at Iowa Speedway in July, had the dominant truck all nigh, leading 93 of 146 laps after starting from the pole

“Anytime you’re in victory lane, it’s awesome,” said Dillon, whose grandfather is longtime NASCAR team owner Richard Childress. “This Chevy was awesome all night and (my crew) is the bomb.”
