Mark Martin has become Mr. Pole Position in the Sprint Cup series this season.

On Friday evening, Martin captured his third pole of the season by logging the fastest lap in qualifying at Phoenix International Raceway.

Martin’s PIR pole comes after also qualifying fastest at Bristol Motor Speedway and Atlanta Motor Speedway earlier this season.

 

Starting second in tonight Subway Fresh Fit 500 will be Kyle Busch.

He will start one spot better than his brother, Kurt Busch, who was third fastest in qualifying.

Series points-leader Jeff Gordon was fourth fastest while Brian Vickers rounded out the top five.

Jimmie Johnson, winner of the last three races at Phoenix, was 10th fastest.
