Aric Almirola took the lead with seven laps to go and went on to hold off Todd Bodine and Kyle Busch to win Saturday’s Camping World Truck Series VFW 200 at Michigan International Speedway.

The victory was the second of the season and career for Almirola, who also won at Dover.

The victory, which came in the No. 51 Billy Ballew Racing truck which Busch had driven to multiple victories last season, allowed Almirola, second in points, to cut into Bodine’s points lead. That lead stands at 55 points.

“What an awesome team,” Almirola said of Billy Ballew’s group. “It was their first win at Michigan so I finally did something Kyle didn’t do.”

Busch said, “We had a good truck today. Suck at Michigan.”

Bodine had won at Texas last time out.

Ron Hornaday Jr., the defending series champion, was third and Austin Dillon was fourth.

The victory came in Almirola’s 58th start.
