Harvick Is Top Trucker
Kevin Harvick led the leaders into the pits for the final pit stop with 17 laps to go in Saturday’s E-Z-Go 200 Camping World Trucks Series race, led them out of the pits and then led them to the checkered flag.
Though Harvick appeared to have the fastest truck most of the day – he led 100 laps – he had to hold of Kyle Busch after the final restart to get the victory. He did it by almost 2 seconds.
Harvick has now won races in all three of NASCAR’s major series at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
The victory was his seventh in the series.
Busch finished second and Aric Almirola was third. Steve Wallace was fourth.
Ron Hornaday Jr., last year’s series champion, got into a bumping incident with Busch on the first lap. About 20 laps later his tire blew, apparently because of a rub caused by the early bump, and Hornaday crashed out.
His finished puts Hornaday in a deep hole as he finished 27th at Daytona in the season-opener last month.
Todd Bodine, who finished fifth, moved into the points lead past Timothy Peters. Peters finished seventh.
