Dale Earnhardt Jr. on Friday won the pole for Sunday’s Kobalt Tools 500 Sprint Cup race at Atlanta Motor Speedway with a lap at 192.761 mph.
The pole was Earnhardt’s second at the 1.5-mile quadoval. He his first pole at AMS in 2001.
Kyle Busch was second quickest in qualifying and Juan Pablo Montoya was third.
Mark Martin was fourth and Jeff Gordon was fifth.
