Castroneves Case Goes To Jury
IndyCar driver Helio Castroneves’ fate passed to the hands of a jury in Miami Friday.
Deliberations in the trial of the two-time Indianapolis 500 winner and past champion in the television “Dancing with the Stars” competition began after final arguments were made in the case.
Castroneves and two of his financial advisors were put on trial on charges of tax evasion.
A verdict in the case will not be announced until Monday at the earliest as the trial adjourned for the weekend on Friday afternoon.
Also on trial with Castroneves are his sister, Katiucia Castroneves, who is also his business manager, and Michigan attorney Alan Miller.
Prosecutors contend they defrauded the government of millions of dollars in taxes.
They are facing up to six years each in prison.
