Fort Worth, Texas – Texas Motor Speedway will play host to its first Daytona 500 Public Watching Party on Sunday, as the 2010 NASCAR Sprint Cup season begins its 10-month trek.

TMS president Eddie Gossage and the racetrack’s staff plan to play host to more than 500 NASCAR fans from the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex in the Glass Cactus at the Gaylord Texan, located at 1501 Gaylord Trail in Grapevine. This will mark the first time that TMS, “The Great American Speedway,” has hosted a public watching party for the event known as “The Great American Race.” Previous race-watching events have been private affairs held in The Speedway Club ballroom.

The 52nd Daytona 500 is scheduled for a noon, CT, start with TV coverage on Fox Sports. Doors will open at 11 a.m. The watching party will feature a huge projection screen for fans to enjoy the running of “NASCAR’s Super Bowl,” as well as various giveaways and prizes throughout the afternoon.

Gossage will be present to discuss the season-opener and mingle with fans. The Sprint Cup Series is scheduled to make the first of two stops at TMS on Sunday, April 18, for the Samsung Mobile 500.

Mark Martin and Dale Earnhardt Jr. – teammates at Hendrick Motorsports – locked up the front row in their Chevrolets Saturday during Daytona 500 qualifications around the high-banked, 2.5-mile Daytona International Speedway.
