Drivers Size Up Super Bowl

Color nascar logoIt’s the day which the NFL holds its annual Daytona 500 of football games – the Super Bowl.

Here are some driver picks for this afternoon’s game, which is the second biggest sports event in February:

Kyle Busch, No. 18 M&M’s Toyota Camry, Joe Gibbs Racing

“I think the Saints are going to beat the Colts. They both have really good offenses, and Peyton Manning is playing out of his mind right now, but I just think this is the Saints’ year. Their offense has really come together, and the defense is playing better than some expected. As for a score, I say Saints 31, Colts 28 in a tight game.”

Denny Hamlin, No. 11 FedEx Toyota Camry, Joe Gibbs Racing

“As tough as the Saints are, it’s tough for me to bet against Peyton Manning and the Colts. I don’t know if it would be the best thing for the NFL if they won the championship again because ultimately there are a lot better stories out there with the Saints winning the Super Bowl. But when it comes down to actual performance, I think the Colts will beat the Saints by nine points.”

Martin Truex Jr., No. 56 NAPA Auto Parts Toyota Camry, Michael Waltrip Racing

“I’m just bummed that my Philadelphia Eagles got knocked out in the first round. I was pulling for them and thought they had a pretty good shot after that. They have been close so many times over the years and can never seem to win the big game. After that, I thought it would’ve been cool to see Brett Favre win another Super Bowl at his age, or maybe the Jets, because they play in New Jersey.”

David Reutimann, No. 00 Aaron’s Dream Machine Toyota Camry, Michael Waltrip Racing

“I think I am going to have to take the New Orleans Saints to win the Super Bowl this year. Of course the main reason that I have to go with them is because they are the closest of the two teams to Florida – my home state.”

Brian Vickers, No. 83 Red Bull Camry, Red Bull Racing Team

“I’m pulling for Reggie Bush and the Saints. Reggie is a Red Bull athlete and I’ve met him a couple of times and I’ve got to say the guy is extremely nice. He’s very down to earth and very quiet. I judge a person sometimes more based on how he treats other people than he treats me because being in the position that I am I find that some people put the show on, but when I was with him in Windsor (Ontario) last year for the Red Bull Air Race and he was so polite and so nice to everyone there. I’m going to the Super Bowl and really looking forward to it.”

Jason Leffler, No. 38 Great Clips Toyota Camry, Braun Racing

“I am going with the Colts to win the Super Bowl. Indianapolis is like a second home to me and while I do not watch football religiously, I do keep up with the Colts. Peyton Manning is an impressive athlete and in my eyes, the best quarterback in the league. I predict that New Orleans will put up a good fight, but in the end, the Colts come home as champions”

Reed Sorenson, No. 32 Dollar General Toyota Camry, Braun Racing

“Since I am a big (Atlanta) Falcons fan, I’m not really rooting for either team in this year’s Super Bowl game. I love football so I’ll definitely be watching the game on Sunday. My prediction – the Colts will win, 34-24.”

David Ragan, Driver No. 6 UPS Ford Fusion

“Peyton Manning will lead the Colts to the win. He has played in the Super Bowl before and will be ready to go.”

Greg Biffle, Driver No. 16 3M Ford Fusion

“I’m going to be cheering for the Saints in this year’s Super Bowl because they beat one of the best teams in the league (the Vikings) to get there and I think they deserve a world championship after that type of effort.”

Matt Kenseth, Driver No. 17 Crown Royal Ford Fusion

“This is a tough one to pick.  I honestly think it’s a toss-up, but I’m going to pick the Colts to win Sunday’s Super Bowl.  I feel that Peyton Manning is one of the smartest players in the league today.  He’s been in this situation before, and that experience will help Sunday.  The Colts have experienced this pressure before and are a team that seems to be able to score points at will.  I think their experience will give them the advantage over the Saints.”

Carl Edwards, Driver No. 99 Aflac Ford Fusion, No. 60 Copart/Fastenal Ford:

“I’m going to go with the Saints. I mean Payton Manning is a football robot. He is supernatural on the field, but I have to cheer for the Saints because with their history they are a Cinderella story and it is always fun to root for the underdog.”

Ricky Stenhouse Jr., Driver No. 6 CitiFinancial Ford

“That’s a tough one.  I’d probably say the Saints because they have a lot of weapons and I think they really want it.  I think it will be a close game though.”

Colin Braun, Driver No. 16 Conway Freight Ford

“It’s going to be close, but the Saints offense is just too tough. If the offensive line can protect (Drew) Brees, it could be a long day for the Colts defense. I’m going with Saints 35, Colts 27.”

Paul Menard, Driver No. 98 Mendards Ford

“I lean toward the NFC teams, and I think it would be great for New Orleans to finally win a Super Bowl. Drew Brees and the entire team have done a great job all year and they deserve a win.”
