Harvick Wins Shootout
Kevin Harvick won the Budweiser Shootout at Daytona International Speedway Saturday night to make it two in a row in the annual all-star event which kicks off Speedweeks.
His victory came as a result of passing for the lead just prior to a wreck that ended the race less than a lap into a green-white-checkered restart.
The wreck appeared to occur when Jeff Gordon tapped the rear of the car of Greg Biffle, who had the lead coming out of the final caution.
Biffle got the lead under yellow when he opted not to make a final pit stop.
Harvick, driving a Richard Childress Chevrolet, had out fought Jamie McMurray of Earnhardt-Ganassi Racing over the final laps to take the lead before the final pit stops of the two-segment, 75-lap event.
Kasey Kahne finished second, McMurray third and Kyle Busch fourth.
Carl Edwards dominated the first segment of the race and had the lead when the field pitted for mandatory caution at lap 25. He led 42 laps total. He fninshed 17th after getting caught up in the final wreck.
