Schumacher Wins Second Straight

nhra_plain_oval_4cTony Schumacher made it two in a row Sunday as he won the NHRA Top Fuel event at the SummitRacing.com Nationals at The Strip in Las Vegas.

Ron Capps was the winner in Funny Car and Jeg Coughlin won in Pro Stock.

Schumacher beat Brandon Bernstein in the Top Fuel finals with a 3.874-second, 311.77 mph-run over the 1,000-foot strip. The victory comes a week after Schumacher won in Houston.

The victory moved Schumacher to the points lead past Antron Brown. 

Capps’ victory Sunday came with a final-round win over Matt Hagan. Capps’ run came in 4.182 seconds and at 297.81 mph. The victory allowed Capps to pad his points lead.

Coughlin beat Greg Stanfield to get the Pro Stock victory. Couglin’s time was 6.715 seconds and his speed was 205.16 mph. Coughlin assumed the points lead with his victory.
