Timothy Peters got his first career victory in the Camping World Truck Series when he won the Kroger 200 at Martinsville Speedway.

“Words can’t describe what I’m going through right now,” Peters said afterward. “These two guys up here, (Red Horse Racing team-owner) Tom DeLoach for believing in me and giving me a opportunity and (crew chief) Chad Kendrick for sticking with me when neither one of us knew what our future, what would happen.

“It’s been bittersweet, a long time coming. This one is for my Dad.”

Todd Bodine finished second while Colin Braun was third.

Ron Hornaday Jr., the series points leader was fourth.

The finshed allowed Hornaday to stretch his points lead from 197 to 224 points over second-place Matt Crafton. Crafton finished ninth in the race.

Kevin Harvick, the owner of Hornaday’s truck, was right behind him in fifth place.
